Our story
I started Springvine Design, in 2010 with several thoughts in mind.
First, we had just had twins, my heart always wanted to be able to stay home with my kids, I needed to figure out a job that would allow that.
Secondly, I wanted a job where I got to be creative, using my fine arts degree.
Most importantly..I have always loved flowers. When I was little, I would ask my Momaw to walk me around her yard to look at all the flowers as they were blooming.
I found so much joy in scouting out the buds as they were emerging from the ground, it was fun guessing what flower they were going to be.
My mom played a big role in my career, as she would always place any flower that I would ever pick in a vase. No matter if it were a weed or something I picked that she planted. She has always encouraged my flower arranging from the very beginning.
In 2010 as I got older and my friends and family were getting married, they would ask me to help with the flowers for their weddings. My mom and I would take on these weddings and put together the flowers on our own. This is how I learned that I could actually "do this".
From there, I began a career as a wedding florist. Little by little, lesson by lesson, I learned the ropes. I started investing in myself and my career by taking workshops from florists that I admired.
I learned so much about the job, both the good and the hardships. The biggest hardship that I found was that I really needed and enjoyed a team.
In an industry where there are no sick days available, especially on wedding days, it was a little daunting at times when you're a mom.
Did you know that 77% of florists are women, according to a study in 2022?? And a common fear amongst the women florists in my area was, "what do you do if you get sick? or your child?" That thought would keep me up at night. Plus I knew I wasn't alone.
2017-These thoughts of teamwork and dependability, kept creeping in my mind. I was later in my career challenged with a move, where I had to leave one area that I had worked hard to develop business and move to another. A good friend of mine who was a florist had moved to this area as well. I asked her if she would take on these jobs and I would move and start another area. Long story short, this was such a gift.
I found camaraderie amongst myself and her. There was no competition, only pure joy of encouragement and sharing of ideas. It was beautiful and so less stressful. And should anything happen to either of us, we knew we had one another's back, even though a little drive amongst ourselves. It felt amazing.
Then, as it got out how great this idea was, it made becoming a florist feel less daunting. And we have grown, and continue to grow.
The women of this team are all Springvine. It is no longer a one woman team, it is a team of women (and men if they want to join us!).
We have created a system where floral designers can design and do less office work. The part that most of us enjoy is "playing with flowers", and less the office work. We have a wonderful office manager who helps manage the office side of things, and each designer works with our wonderful clients
Our very own Springvine designers on their special day!*
